UAE private sector employees enjoy two-hour reduction, flexible and remote work options during Ramadan 2025

The UAE government has confirmed that private sector employees will enjoy reduced working hours during Ramadan 2025.

According to the latest circular issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE), private sector staff will work two hours less each day throughout the holy month.

This follows a recent announcement on the reduction of hours during Ramadan for public sector employees.

The announcement follows recent changes introduced for federal entities and now extends to the entire UAE private sector.

MOHRE emphasised that flexible or remote work patterns are allowed within the standard daily working hours during Ramadan, ensuring that employees can adapt their schedules during this sacred period.

Astronomers predict that Ramadan 2025 is set to begin on 1 March, with Eid 2025 expected to follow after a 29- or 30-day period.

The start of Ramadan will be confirmed by the moon sighting committee, which will convene after maghrib prayers on the 29th day of Sha’ban to spot the new crescent.

During Ramadan, many in the UAE will observe the fast from dawn until dusk, breaking their fast with a traditional Iftar and later enjoying Suhoor before the sun rises again.
