Here’s all you need to know about the 29-year-old warrior

Presenting in this corner, the UAE’s first-ever fighter to compete in the UFC – Mohammed Yahya!

It’s a big day for the country, with the 29-year-old’s historic deal with the world’s leading MMA promotion. The Duba-based fighter is expected to make his debut at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi.

According to reports, Yahya will face American Trevor Peek on 21 October at the Etihad Arena.

“I’ve been training since March so I’m ready. I’ll make all Arabs proud,” says the athlete.

Having made in MMA debut in 2012 after signing with the regional promotion Desert Force, he went on to win four out of five fights. He then competed twice in Bellator – winning once. Before signing for the UAE Warriors in 2019.

The UFC 294 just got a lot more exciting, with chatter and anticipation building over the headline fight between Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira. The same will be a rematch of their UFC 280 bout last year, so the UAE capital is in for a fierce fight.

Abu Dhabi is clearly becoming a favourite destination of the world’s leading MMA promotion as the city hosts its 18th UFC event since 2010, when Brazilian legend Anderson Silva took on compatriot Demian Maia.
