Discover the health benefits of Namm Spa’s Turkish and Moroccan hammams, blending traditional practices with modern wellness techniques
I recently had my first encounter with the world of hammams at the newly launched Namm Spa, located within Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi, and it was a journey like no other.
For someone who has never explored hammam life before, diving into one that offered both Turkish and Moroccan traditions was as exhilarating as it was eye-opening. The experience started with a warm welcome – a special room plush with amenities to prepare you for the treatment, accompanied by a soothing ginger tea and refreshing lemon mint water that set the tone for what was to come.
In the elegant, purpose-built pre-hammam room, I felt like I was about to embark on a ritual that had been perfected over centuries. The Ritual of Hammam (Moroccan Hammam) experience was suggested based on the initial consultation, which is a 60-minute experience that draws on the ancient traditions of the Middle East to leave your skin radiant and your spirit renewed.
Fair warning: hammams aren’t for the faint-hearted.

The steamy room, with its enveloping heat, was intense and took a bit of acclimatising. I was grateful for the therapist assigned to me, who gently guided me through the process. The treatment began with the use of black soap, designed to improve skin texture and tone. The same is then followed by an invigorating scrub, essential for exfoliating the skin and stimulating circulation.
While this could initially feel overwhelming due to the heat and the vigorous scrubbing, it is precisely this intensity that helps to remove dead skin cells and detoxify the body.
Rounding off the treatment is a detoxifying Ghassoul clay body wrap, capped off with lavish dousing in signature oils, which left my skin feeling silky and deeply nourished. The interiors of the hammam were just as impressive as the treatment itself.
The space was a luxurious blend of traditional charm and modern comfort. With meticulous attention to detail, it featured everything you could need to prepare for your hammam experience. The design, reflecting a fusion of Moroccan and Turkish influences, provided a serene backdrop that was as soothing as the treatments.
For those seeking a more comprehensive wellness experience, Namm Spa’s ‘Thousand and One Nights’ package, which blends a traditional hammam with a revitalising facial, sounds like the ultimate indulgence.
Overall, my visit to Namm Spa’s new hammam was a unique and memorable adventure into the realm of relaxation and rejuvenation. It’s clear that Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi has truly embraced the art of the hammam, offering a transformative experience that’s both deeply relaxing and refreshingly invigorating.
For a journey into timeless tradition and modern luxury, Namm Spa’s hammam is a destination worth exploring.
