The charming venue delivers a full-flavored Italian experience in a lively, marina-side setting
There’s something about dining by the water that instantly elevates an evening, and Porto Gina absolutely understands the assignment.
Tucked along the marina at the beautiful InterContinental Abu Dhabi, this Italian gem delivers not just on flavour, but on a full charming experience.
We chose to sit outside, right beside the marina, and it set the tone for the entire night. The air was cool, the yachts gently swayed in the background, and there was that soft hum of conversation from nearby restaurants and bars that made everything feel lively without being overwhelming.
An elegant live singer performed smooth classics throughout the evening, adding a touch of sophistication throughout. It felt effortless, and you’d almost forget you’re in the middle of the bustling city.
We kicked things off with bruschetta, and it was exactly what you want from a starter: fresh and generously topped.
The bread had the perfect crunch, giving way to juicy tomatoes and fragrant basil that tasted beautifully seasonal. It was simple, but done properly, and that’s the hallmark of great Italian cooking.
Alongside the bruschetta, we tried the garden mixed salad, and it was a refreshing complement. Crisp lettuce, tender greens and a mix of seasonal vegetables came together with a light, zesty dressing that felt both clean and vibrant on the palate.
For mains, the spaghetti carbonara was an easy choice. Rich, creamy, and indulgent in all the right ways, the sauce clung perfectly to the al dente pasta. It had that authentic depth of flavour that feels both comforting and luxurious at the same time.
Across the table, the tenderloin steak arrived cooked to perfection; tender, juicy, and full of wow.

It was served with crispy golden fries and smooth mashed potatoes that were so good we ended up sharing everything family-style, Italian-style.
And then came dessert, because skipping it simply wasn’t an option. The tiramisu was beautifully balanced: light mascarpone layers, a gentle espresso kick, and just the right amount of sweetness.
We also sampled a selection of ice creams, each scoop silky and delightful, the perfect playful finish to an indulgent meal.
We had originally planned to take a leisurely stroll along the marina afterward, soaking in the lights and the gentle evening breeze, but the combination of hearty mains, indulgent desserts, and well-paired drinks left us far too full to move.
Instead, we lingered at the table, content to enjoy the views, the music, and the effortless Italian vibe surrounding us.
What makes Porto Gina special isn’t just the food; although that alone is worth the visit. It’s the combination of marina views, live music, warm hospitality, and that buzzing yet intimate InterContinental atmosphere.
