Celebrate Golden Week with an umami-packed menu at Michelin-starred Hakkasan Abu Dhabi

There’s a limited edition menu at the Michelin-starred Hakkasan to mark Golden Week – and you don’t want to miss out!

 

Don’t let the quiet walk past the alfresco seating into the restaurant fool you, Hakkasan is buzzing as ever especially with the onset of Golden Week.

Marked by golden mixed drinks, food and even a golden dress code – the Chinese week of national holidays is currently being celebrated with delicious aplomb here in Abu Dhabi. The limited-edition set menu is available from 1 to 10 October, and presents the perfect blend of tradition with opulence, offering a luxurious dining experience that delights the senses.

Highlights on the menu include the Charcoal grilled octopus, served with a pumpkin rice puree and Schezuan peppercorn. It’s packed to the rafters with flavour and the octopus is exactly the right amount of crispy and caramelised on the outside while still being the perfect vessel for umami flavour.

You also wouldn’t want to miss out on the Golden mala dumplings with lamb loin and chilli crisp to further elevate the experience, as dumplings symbolise prosperity.

What sets this menu apart is that the mains are all equally delicious, with the Wok-seared Wagyu beef sirloin being the best balance of tangy, sweet, and savoury! Another memorable dish is the lobster, which also symbolises good fortune, while pumpkin, with its golden hue, signifies prosperity and abundance, and in some Chinese provinces, it represents gold itself.

While abalone is known to be an acquired taste, the rice berry and golden puffed rice combo was a nice earthy almost bitter complement to all the vibrant flavours on the plate.

Finish off on a deliciously decadent note with the Golden Lotus, which immediately took me back home to a traditional Indian achappam set upon a vibrant mandarin gel with pumpkin cream. The best part of dining across Abu Dhabi always remains the interesting insights, watching how techniques, flavours and entire dishes can be universal yet presented in a completely unfamiliar yet pleasantly surprising manner.
