Untitled 14km – Youness Atbane

A gold statue-like prop

‘Untitled 14KM’ offers a satirical exploration of how contemporary art engages with questions of Arab identity and representation.

Set within an imagined museum of North Africa, Middle East Contemporary Art, the work follows a poet, museum director, curator and artist as they shape a fictional exhibition.

Through their conversations, the project examines the relationship between Arab-Andalusian heritage, modernism and contemporary Arab artistic practices

The performance reveals the tensions behind defining identity within the global art world, questioning ideas of authority, legitimacy and cultural ownership.

Rather than presenting identity as fixed, ‘Untitled 14KM’ explores how it is continuously shaped through institutions, discourse and representation.

Coproduced by Studio Emad EDDIN Stiftelsen and The Arab Arts Focus, the project presents a layered reflection on art, history and identity.
