Students at leading private schools in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are learning golf as part of a new, tech-driven PE initiative by Nord Anglia Schools
Golf is finding a new home in UAE classrooms.
Four Nord Anglia private schools in the UAE are introducing golf to their Physical Education programmes, giving students from Year 3 upwards the opportunity to swap football boots for fairway swings.
The initiative, launched this term at Swiss International Scientific School Dubai, Nord Anglia International School Dubai, British International School Abu Dhabi, and Nord Anglia International School Abu Dhabi, blends fun, technology, and life skills in a sport long known for patience and precision.
Under the guidance of world-renowned instructor Mitchell Spearman, students will learn using SNAG (Starting New At Golf) kits and TrackMan simulators — tools that make the game accessible to beginners while bringing high-tech feedback into the sports hall.
Mitchell Spearman, listed among Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Instructors, described the programme as a “dream come true” that makes golf part of everyday school life.

Teachers say the response has been overwhelmingly positive. “The equipment is exceptionally well designed, making it both accessible and engaging for learners,” says Mark Churcher, PE Instructor at Swiss International Scientific School Dubai. “Our students thoroughly enjoy the sessions.”
Ryan Baker, Head of PE at the British International School Abu Dhabi, agrees: “We hope to spark a passion that will lead many of them to continue their golfing journey beyond school.”
By introducing golf early, the schools aim to nurture coordination, focus, and perseverance — skills that extend far beyond the golf course.
Whether students go on to play competitively or enjoy a lifelong hobby, this new PE initiative promises to make golf more inclusive, engaging, and fun for the next generation of young learners in the UAE.
