Abu Dhabi students are now being schooled in preserving UAE heritage, fishery resources

Education in Abu Dhabi is about to go to the next level with this new initiative

Education in Abu Dhabi is top tier with many of the region’s schools located in the capital.

And now, this prestigious accolade has just been up levelled as the Youth Council of the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi’s launches the ‘Bahrna Zakhar’ initiative.

The initiative, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society for Fisherman and Real Estate Cities, sees awareness programmes being rolled across 100 schools in Abu Dhabi.

The programmes will teach Abu Dhabi students the importance of preserving UAE heritage and about fishery resources.

Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society for Fisherman plays host to an important source of fresh fish in the city of Abu Dhabi.

It also offers a place where fishermen can deposit their fresh catch for distribution to many of the UAE’s markets.

 

The society is also instrumental in providing services not just for fishermen but also retail and wholesale trade of fresh fish, live fish, grilled fish and so on, as well as supporting those in the business of fish and thus developing the fishing industry in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

 

Two protected sites close in Abu Dhabi

 

In other environment news, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) announced that two of the capitals protected areas are to close to the public.

There has been no indication as to when the two sites will reopen.

The EAD also recently launched youth-led environmental education and reporting volunteering programme called, ‘Environmental Eyes’, which aims to equip volunteers with the awareness to identify, report potential violations caused by human activities.
