Quiet Mornings are coming to Zayed National Museum, providing visitors with less sensory stimulation
Zayed National Museum has announced it’s introducing Quiet Morning, a monthly initiative created to provide a calm, welcoming and inclusive environment for visitors who benefit from reduced sensory stimulation.
Starting on January 4 and continuing on the first Sunday of each month from 9am to 10am, Quiet Morning offers a 60-minute experience across several museum spaces, including the galleries and Al Masar Garden, reflecting the museum’s integrated approach to accessibility.
During this time, the museum will open one hour earlier than usual, with selected areas featuring softer lighting, lower sound levels and adjusted settings.
These adaptations are designed to support visitors with neurodevelopmental disabilities, including autism and attention deficit disorders, as well as families, schools and anyone who prefers a quieter, more tranquil museum experience.

Quiet Morning forms part of Zayed National Museum’s long-term commitment to accessibility at every stage of the visitor journey.
As the first cultural institution in the Middle East to adopt the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower programme, the museum has trained up to 80% of its staff to assist visitors with hidden disabilities. It is also the first cultural institution in Abu Dhabi to offer tours in Emirati Sign Language, led by deaf museum experience specialists.
These efforts are complemented by a wide range of accessible features and resources, including a calm room, wheelchair-accessible routes and lifts, tactile stations, and interpretive materials in multiple formats such as Braille and captioned videos.
Visitors can also make use of sensory maps, sensory kits and visual story guides, ensuring accessibility is embedded throughout the museum experience.
