Restaurants, local shops and more revealed as part of Abu Dhabi’s Urban Treasures 2024 list
There’s nothing like Abu Dhabi’s growing list of Urban Treasures to prove the capital’s commitment to its community.
The annual list by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi recognises restaurants, cafes and other shops that have existed for two decades or more, thus becoming notable pillars of the community. And this year’s list added 15 more businesses to the list.

Now in its third year, two of the 15 establishments included are restaurants – namely Alfarah Restaurant and Alareesh Restaurant.
The other recognised businesses are scattered across different sectors, from the UAE’s first pharmacy Al Qadi Pharmacy & Est (1965) to carpet expert Persian Carpets & Antiques Exhibition (1989).
More establishments named in the Abu Dhabi Urban Treasures awards this year included Paris Textiles LLC, WOSTB Legal Translation, Al Jazeera Studio & Stores and Al Ain Pharmacy, Salem Al Shueibi Jewellery and Rubou Zahla Trading Establishment.
Alareesh Restaurant
Alareesh Restaurant was founded in 1990 in Al Ain and serves authentic Lebanese cuisine. The restaurant offers a diverse menu and is well known for its warm hospitality and inviting atmosphere.
Al Mandoos
Who doesn’t know of Al Mandoos? Synonymous with Emirati tradition, the brand was launched in 1986 and is the epitome of Emirati heritage footwear fashion.
Abu Dhabi Pottery Exhibition
Founded in 1994, this pottery studio is a creative hub dedicated to the art of pottery. Over the years, it has morphed into a melting pot of international and local students, both adults and children, who are interested in learning the craft.

Nasruddin Perfumes
Established in 1989 as a single store in Abu Dhabi’s Old Souq, Nasruddin perfumes has grown to have several branches across the emirate. They’ve also gone digital, delivering customers their favourite scents for the ultimate convenience.
Persian Carpets & Antiques Exhibition
Established in 1989, this establishment specialises in the sale and repair of handmade carpets based in Abu Dhabi. A worthy addition to Abu Dhabi’s Urban Treasures list this year.
Al Ajayeb Bazar
This retailer has a rich history of selling a wide range of products across three decades.
Ayoob Exhibition
Established in 1970, Ayoob is the go-to spot for baby fashion and essentials to accessories and perfume.
Alfarah Restaurant

This eatery was started in 1998 to win over the community with rich Middle Eastern cuisine. In recent times, the restaurant has grown to have five outlets throughout Abu Dhabi and one branch in Dubai as well. Talk about a community favourite!
