Mobius Design Studio’s Crystal No.6
Thursday, 20 February, 5.30 pm, Project Space
The NYUAD Art Gallery invites you to the opening reception of Crystal No.6, an exhibition by the Sharjah-based Mobius Design Studio. The exhibition explores the rich cultural and historical layers of Freej Al Murar, a historic neighborhood in Dubai.
Through the lens of the mkhawera, a traditional Emirati women’s embroidered garment, the project delves into the forgotten labor and stories behind these intricate creations, offering a poignant reflection on the erasure driven by capitalism.
The project is led by Hadeyeh Badri, Hala Al-Ani, and Riem Ibrahim of Mobius Design Studio. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with a deeply researched narrative that honors both tradition and the unseen forces that shape cultural history.

Wednesday, 19 February, 12.30 pm, The Reading Room
As part of the Who’s on Campus? series, curator Biljana Ciric will lead a talk on Curating the Future: On Exhibition Histories and the Importance of Creating Citations from the Margins.
Ciric, known for her interdependent curatorial approach, will share her insights on the significance of marginal spaces shaped by historical entanglements and how they influence her curatorial practice.
The talk promises to engage attendees in thoughtful discussions about the ways in which exhibitions reflect and create histories.
A light lunch will be provided, and attendees are encouraged to register in advance to secure their spot.
