Calling all comic book lovers, it’s time to have some fun!
Sandstorm Comics (Sandstorm), the new Middle East studio on the block is bringing its inaugural comics and pop culture industry event to the UAE capital.
Taking place from 8-10 December, Storm the Block is just the event comic lovers needed at Yas Creative Hub, Abu Dhabi.
Having debuted at the annual Middle East Film and Comic Con in 2022, Sandstorm also made an appearance at the Comic-Con International in San Diego in July 2023.
Led by Mohammed Abedin, an Emirati industry leader and lifelong comic book creator, Sandstorm aims to contribute to Abu Dhabi’s growing reputation as a centre for creative content production and bring in more local talent.

While we await more details, visitors can expect global comics talent, animators, influencers and creatives.
Among the starry line-up are multiple artists from Superani, the world-renowned artist studio and collective; Saroush Barazesh (Kings of Nowhere); Marvel and DC artist Bernard Chang; artist and director Chase Conley (The Boondocks, X-Men 97) and many, many more!
The UAE’s favourite Japanese retailer, Kinokuniya will also be offering a specially curated selection of books, stationery and more.
Sandstorm will also be releasing preview issues of its first 13 comic books, created with local authors and renowned international artists.
