
Abu Dhabi welcomes a piece of Italian maritime history this weekend
This December, Abu Dhabi is set to host a monumental first in its rich cultural calendar: the iconic Italian naval training ship, Amerigo Vespucci, will dock in the capital as part of its World Tour Amerigo Vespucci – Villaggio Italia.
From 27 to 31 December, residents and visitors alike can experience the majestic charm of this 93-year-old sailing marvel, marking its debut in the UAE.
A symbol of Italian craftsmanship and naval tradition, the Amerigo Vespucci isn’t just a ship – it’s a floating ambassador of ‘Made in Italy’ excellence.
Accompanying the vessel is the Villaggio Italia, a traveling showcase of Italian culture, industry, and innovation. Together, they create a unique blend of tradition and modernity, celebrating Italy’s rich heritage while forging new connections with the UAE.
The festivities will kick off on 28 December with a grand inauguration of the Villaggio Italia by Italian Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto.

On 29 December, the President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, will join the celebrations, further solidifying the friendship between the two nations.
