Tell us a little bit about yourself

Hi, I’m Hina. Originally from India, I am currently working as a marketing manager at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Abu Dhabi. I live here with my husband and my 5 year old son and I take pride in being part of the vibrant community in this city.

How and when did you move here, and what inspired the move?

I moved to Abu Dhabi over 10 years ago after marrying my husband who was born and raised in this beautiful city. To me, the vibrant culture and stunning landmarks such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque made it an easy choice to pack my bags and call Abu Dhabi my home.

How has living in Abu Dhabi shaped your sense of belonging and community?

Living in Abu Dhabi has made me realize that even in a big city, there’s still an intimate community where everyone feels close-knit. You always seem to find a common friend no matter where you go or who you meet. It’s been amazing to see how people from different backgrounds come together to create this amazing community and it really has helped me feel a sense of belonging.

Can you tell us about a particular person in Abu Dhabi who has had a significant impact on your life and why?

One person who has made a significant impact on my life in Abu Dhabi is my husband. His love for the city, its people, and culture has taught me so much about what makes Abu Dhabi so special. His passion has inspired me to truly explore all the amazing things this city has to offer and has opened so many doors for me.

What is your favorite thing about the emirate and why?

My favorite thing about Abu Dhabi is its unparalleled beauty and the warmth of its people. Everywhere I look, there are stunning skylines, lively souks, and pristine beaches to be found – it’s truly breathtaking. But what really sets Abu Dhabi apart is the hospitality and friendliness of its people.

A myth about Abu Dhabi that you would like to bust

One myth that I would like to bust regarding Abu Dhabi is that people feel that it’s slow-paced and nothing much is going on. In reality, there’s an endless list of things to do and see here. From world renowned museums, adventure parks, exquisite restaurants, thrilling watersports, to world-class shopping – you’ll never be bored in this vibrant city.

Could you share a memorable moment when you felt the genuine warmth and hospitality of the Abu Dhabi community in your own life?

I have had so many wonderful experiences in Abu Dhabi, but what strikes me most is the genuine warmth and hospitality that the city’s community shows every day. Every time I post a question on a forum or WhatsApp group, I am amazed at how quickly and enthusiastically people respond, sharing their own experiences and giving me warm and friendly advice. This is definitely one of the things that makes me feel at home in Abu Dhabi, even after all these years.
