Tell us a little bit of yourself?
In simple words, I’m an Engineer by day and DJ by night! Originally from Egypt but I was born and raised in Abu Dhabi! I take deep pride in being able to witness the UAE’s growth over the years! FYI I’m an 80’s kiddo, so imagine all the big things that I got to see and the amazing people I met!
How and when did you move here, and what inspired the move ?
I was born and raised in Abu Dhabi. My family moved here in the early 80’s and they’ve been here ever since. The vibrant culture, familial ties, and opportunities inspired me to stay rooted in this city.
How has living in Abu Dhabi shaped your sense of belonging and community?
Being influenced by a large number of cultures in Abu Dhabi, the diverse population and rich traditions have shaped my identity and connections within the city. There’s just something special about Abu Dhabi!
Can you tell us about a particular person in Abu Dhabi who has had a significant impact on your life and why?
My older brother. Growing up, his passion for sports and music, especially hip hop and basketball influenced my interests and career path, shaping who I am today.
What is your favourite thing about the emirate and why?
My favorite thing about Abu Dhabi is its blend of modernity and tradition. The city offers a dynamic lifestyle while preserving its cultural heritage, providing a unique experience for residents and visitors alike. Also, all my friends from high school are still here and that’s enough reason to love this city knowing that it’s loved by everyone!
A myth about Abu Dhabi that you would like to bust
The myth: “Abu Dhabi is only a city of luxury and opulence.”
While it does offer luxurious experiences, Abu Dhabi also has a rich tapestry of diverse communities, cultural events, and everyday life that goes beyond the glitz and glamour.
Could you share a memorable moment when you felt the genuine warmth and hospitality of the Abu Dhabi community in your own life?
One memorable moment that showcased Abu Dhabi’s genuine warmth and hospitality was during my childhood. His Highness Sheikh Zayed (god rest his soul) was humbly walking on the corniche and he would let everyone come and say hi!
I’m so jealous that my brother got a chance to take a picture with him. The generosity, kindness and humbleness of the Royal Family is what makes this city the greatest in my opinion.
