After a long and hot summer we’re all dreaming of cooler nights and alfresco dining
So… when will Abu Dhabi finally cool down?
We’re deep into the sizzling heart of an Abu Dhabi summer; that time of year when even your flip-flops feel too warm and your AC is working overtime like it’s on a personal mission.
And while we all love a bit of sunshine (we live here, after all), let’s be honest: most of us are quietly counting down the days to cooler weather.
But the golden question is: when will it actually happen?
Reading the signs (and sipping iced coffee)
Traditionally, we start to feel the first hints of relief in late September to early October; when the mornings start to feel a tiny bit less like a hairdryer and more like a warm hug.
Until then, it’s mostly iced everything, pool days, and pretending 37°C is “not that bad, really”.
Based on recent years, daytime highs will still hang around the 40°C mark through much of August and into early September.

But once we get past that second week of September, the shift starts. It’s not dramatic; it’s more like the air just feels different.
The sun still shines, but it starts to mellow. And let’s not forget that magic moment when you can finally go for a walk after 6pm without wilting. That’s when you know the change is near.
So… October?
Yep. If you’re holding out for proper alfresco dining weather, your best bet is mid to late October.
That’s when the evening temps start to drop below 30°C (imagine!), and we all collectively rush to book terrace tables like it’s a competitive sport.
By November, it’s chef’s kiss: sunny days, breezy evenings, and yes — the return of that light jacket you haven’t touched in six months.
What about this year?
This year’s heat has felt especially intense (or are we just forgetting what 2024 was like?), but according to forecasts and a little weather-watching from our side, we’re on track for a fairly normal seasonal dip.
That means we could see the first signs of real relief as early as late September, especially in the evenings. But if you’re waiting for the full cool-down; think morning jogs, weekend markets, and beach picnics without sweat; hold out until mid-October to early November.
What to do while we wait
Until then, it’s all about embracing the indoors: hotel staycays, indoor brunches, and movie marathons in your frostiest room.
But the end is in sight. The sunsets are starting to look more golden, the evenings are getting just that little bit longer, and we’re only a few weeks away from remembering why we love living here in the cooler months.
So hang tight, Abu Dhabi, hoodie weather is coming (eventually).
