This collaboration puts Abu Dhabi at the heart of the global AI revolution

In a bold move that could reshape the global tech landscape in the UAE and beyond, the US and the UAE have teamed up to build a massive AI-powered data centre complex in Abu Dhabi.

Announced during President Donald Trump’s high-profile visit to the UAE this week, the mega project will kick off with a 1-gigawatt AI data centre and is set to expand to an enormous 5-gigawatt capacity, covering around 10 square miles; enough to power an entire major city.

This collaboration puts Abu Dhabi at the heart of the global AI revolution, creating a key launching pad for American cloud and AI companies looking to grow their presence across the Middle East and the Global South.

And while no company names were officially disclosed, the buzz is building, especially with top tech leaders spotted at meetings during Trump’s visit.

For the UAE, this is a major leap toward becoming a global leader in AI by 2031, part of its broader push to diversify its economy beyond oil.

The project also promises to boost innovation, drive new investment, and attract talent from around the world.

To top it off, the partnership goes both ways. The UAE has pledged to finance or construct equally powerful data centers in the US, creating a transcontinental tech alliance that could redefine AI infrastructure on a global scale.
