If you’re flying out of the UAE, here are some of the latest Covid-19 guidelines to watch out for.
Making travel plans for this year? The dreaded Covid-19 guidelines might be rearing their ugly heads again.
With a steady increase in cases making headlines, some international travellers have been facing renewed restrictions at airports around the globe. While some governments have reintroduced PCR testing for arrivals, others have begun analysing swabs and conducting virus sequencing to help identify new variants of the virus.
There are special updated guidelines for UAE-China passengers as well! Passengers will have to take a 48-hour valid Covid-19 PCR test. However, the country is reportedly gearing up to drop quarantine rules for international travellers from 8 January.
According to a notice issued by the Embassy and Consulate General of China in the UAE, from 8 January, China-bound passengers from the UAE will need to complete one PCR test within 48 hours prior to boarding a flight.

Those with negative test results will need to make a health declaration to the China Customs authority before travelling to China without the need to apply for an HS/HDC QR Code from the Embassy or Consulate General of China in the UAE.
China-bound passengers will be able to submit their PCR test results within 48 hours prior to boarding a flight through the WeChat mini-program Customs Pocket Declaration, the website, or Pocket Customs APP.
In Pakistan, international passengers arriving will undergo random testing for Covid-19. In a tweet, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority announced screening of two per cent of passengers arriving in Pakistan by international flights has started at country’s major airports.
“Owing to the Covid-19 situation in the region, screening of 2% of passengers arriving in Pakistan by int’l flights has started at country’s major airports. Where needed, RAT and PCR tests are being conducted too,” the tweet said. The authority also urged passengers to keep their vaccination certificate handy while at airport.
Stay safe!
