Heavy rain expected in Al Ain and Dubai

Parts of the UAE saw heavy rain Monday with more expected this week

Residents in Dubai and Al Ain were caught off guard Monday afternoon as heavy showers swept across several areas.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) confirmed strong rainfall activity, particularly over Al Faqa in Al Ain and Al Qudra in Dubai, where moderate rain was reported.

In a public alert, the NCM urged people to remain cautious, warning that strong winds could make loose items hazardous and significantly reduce visibility.

It also advised staying away from flooded or water-logged areas as the stormy weather passed through.

While the rain provided a short-lived break from the heat, the overall forecast for the UAE this week remains intense.

The country is expected to face scorching daytime temperatures, particularly in inland areas like Al Ain, where highs could reach a blistering 47°C by Thursday.

Coastal cities including Dubai and Abu Dhabi will continue to feel the heat, with daytime temperatures fluctuating between 40°C and 46°C.

Even the typically cooler mountainous areas won’t offer much relief, as temperatures there climb into the high 30s.

In addition to the heat, rising humidity levels are expected during the night and early morning hours, especially in the Al Dhafra region of Abu Dhabi.

These conditions could create ideal circumstances for fog or mist formation, which may lead to dangerous driving conditions and poor visibility on major roads.

Despite the heatwave, forecasters say more rain could still be on the way. There’s a chance of additional showers developing on Tuesday, particularly in eastern and southern parts of the country.

The recent rainfall and ongoing humidity also raise the possibility of thunderstorms later in the week, although those are not yet confirmed.

For now, residents are being advised to stay alert for further weather warnings and plan their travel accordingly.

Drivers should watch for fog alerts in the early morning hours and avoid speeding in low-visibility areas. Anyone in exposed or open areas is urged to secure loose items to avoid wind-related hazards.

Whether it’s blazing sunshine or an unexpected downpour, the UAE’s weather this week is keeping everyone on their toes.
