UAE Moon Sighting Committee to confirm six-day break this weekend

Have you got your vacay plans ready?

Everyone working in the UAE can only talk about the upcoming six-day break for Eid Al Adha!

While the Federal Authority for Human Resources has officially confirmed 9 to 12 Dhu al-Hijjah for the public sector, the private sector is still awaiting the good news!

Fret not, for the UAE Moon Sighting Committee is reported to meet on 18 June, Sunday, to confirm the official Eid Al Adha dates.

At the moment, astronomical calculations have predicted Eid Al Adha to fall on Dhul Hijjah 10 to 12, which corresponds to 28-30 June. Arafat Day, which is one day before Eid, would then fall on 27 June, with work resuming for all on 3 July, Monday.

Add to that the Saturday-Sunday weekend and it’s six days of much-deserved rest and respite from the heat! While the private sector is mostly expected to follow suit, we can’t wait for the moon to show up.

While we wait, why not get the vacay plans sorted? Firstly, it’s best to plan ahead and secure your spot to view the spectacular fireworks display Abu Dhabi has planned.

Living in Dubai? No worries, there are plenty of iconic spots that are going to be lit up with some fireworks too!
