Breaking boundaries: Special Olympics UAE and Malta unite for joint training camp in Al Ain
In a historic collaboration, Special Olympics UAE and Special Olympics Malta have joined forces for a transformative joint training camp in Al Ain.
The event, sponsored by the Department of Culture and Tourism and the Integrated Transport Centre, marks the first time a European delegation has participated in such a camp in the UAE.
Fifteen athletes from each country are engaging in rigorous training in bocce, swimming, and athletics until 18 February.

Beyond the sports arena, the athletes will explore Abu Dhabi’s cultural treasures, fostering social connections and a deeper understanding of the capital’s history.
This initiative reflects the UAE’s commitment to empowering individuals with developmental disabilities globally, setting the stage for future sports and cultural exchange.
The camaraderie established between Special Olympics UAE and Malta is evident, with UAE athletes securing 16 medals at the Special Olympics Malta Invitational Games 2022, making their mark in the MENA region.
