The 54th National Day is officially celebrated on Tuesday December 2, with UAE public holiday law declaring that day and December 3 a public holiday every year.
This year, the Wednesday day off was been moved to Monday, which is why the public sector will now benefit from a four-day weekend.
This is thanks to a new UAE public holiday law that states that days off can be moved around (apart from Eid celebrations).
This law states: “With the exception of Eid holidays, the Cabinet may – pursuant to a resolution it issues – transfer any of the public holidays referred to in Article (1) of this Resolution to the beginning or end of the week.”
While the long weekend is confirmed for the public sector, the private sector holidays have not been confirmed. We will keep you updated so stay tuned.
