Although the official launch date has not been disclosed, the new free-flow parking system is set to roll out across selected locations in the capital soon, and the biggest change is simple: your parking session will happen automatically.
The new system, introduced by Q Mobility, is designed to remove many of the small frustrations that come with paid parking.
No more searching for payment machines. No more QR codes. No more remembering to send a text message before leaving your vehicle.
Instead, technology will handle the entire process behind the scenes.
Using artificial intelligence and licence plate recognition technology, the system will detect when a vehicle enters and leaves participating parking facilities.
The parking fee will then be calculated automatically and deducted from the user’s Darb wallet.
For motorists, the experience should feel almost effortless. Park the car, get on with your day, and leave when you’re ready. The system does the rest.
Of course, there is one important thing drivers will need to remember: keeping money in their Darb wallet.
Unlike traditional parking systems where payment is made at the machine or via SMS, this new setup relies entirely on the balance available in the app.
If your wallet doesn’t have enough funds, you could still face penalties, making regular top-ups an important habit for frequent drivers.

The change is part of a wider trend we’re seeing across the UAE, where transport and mobility services are becoming increasingly digital.
From cashless toll systems to app-based transport payments, everyday tasks that once required cash or physical tickets are gradually moving online.
