Get ready for a new level of entertainment in the Middle East – Abu Dhabi is officially bringing the Sphere experience to the region!

In a major new partnership, DCT Abu Dhabi has scored exclusive rights to build Sphere venues across the Middle East and North Africa over the next decade.

The news comes straight from a Securities and Exchange Commission filing by US-based Sphere Entertainment, the company behind the original Las Vegas marvel.

This news followed the announcement earlier in the year that Abu Dhabi is getting a massive dose of Las Vegas magic as Sphere Entertainment and the DCT Abu Dhabi team up to bring the world’s second Sphere venue to the UAE.

If you’ve seen the jaw-dropping visuals of the Las Vegas Sphere, you know what’s coming. Standing at 115 metres tall and 157 metres wide, the Vegas venue is the largest spherical structure in the world – and it’s famous for its mind-blowing 16K resolution wraparound screens. With space for 20,000 fans, it’s already hosted unforgettable performances from U2, the Eagles, and even the Backstreet Boys.

This futuristic, larger-than-life entertainment experience will be the first Sphere outside of Vegas, offering both residents and visitors an extraordinary new way to enjoy concerts, shows, and events.

“We always envisioned a global network of Sphere venues, and this partnership with Abu Dhabi is a key milestone,” says James L. Dolan, Executive Chairman and CEO of Sphere Entertainment.

“Sphere is redefining live entertainment, and we’re excited to collaborate with DCT Abu Dhabi to bring this revolutionary experience to the city.”

H.E. Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, echoed the excitement, saying, “Sphere Abu Dhabi will blend cutting-edge technology with captivating storytelling, creating unforgettable moments for everyone who visits.

“This partnership supports our Tourism Strategy 2030, solidifying Abu Dhabi as a leading cultural hub and pushing the boundaries of immersive experiences.”

Located in a prime spot in the city, Sphere Abu Dhabi will mirror the scale and spectacle of the 20,000-capacity Las Vegas Sphere, ensuring jaw-dropping, immersive entertainment year-round.

This groundbreaking venue will draw global crowds, giving Abu Dhabi a new cultural landmark to add to its already impressive skyline. From concerts and shows to all-encompassing events, Sphere Abu Dhabi will deliver entertainment on a whole new level.

The collaboration between Sphere Entertainment and DCT Abu Dhabi includes a franchise agreement, with Abu Dhabi funding the construction and using Sphere’s proprietary technology and design.

Sphere Entertainment will provide the expertise needed for the development, and once the venue opens, it will continue to work with DCT Abu Dhabi, offering artistic content, operational services, and more.

As the world’s second Sphere, Abu Dhabi’s version promises to be a game-changer for entertainment, not just in the UAE, but across the region.
