Fireworks, world pavilions, cultural shows, sports and family fun
Clear your winter calendar and get ready for fireworks, international pavilions, cultural shows, family fun and plenty of winter entertainment, because the Sheikh Zayed Festival is returning to Abu Dhabi on 30 October.
Running for 136 days until 14 March 2027, the annual festival in Al Wathba is gearing up for another packed season, with a mix of entertainment, sport, culture, food and experiences from the UAE and around the world.
If you’ve been before, you’ll know it’s not exactly the kind of place you can breeze through in an hour.
There’s plenty to see and do, with international pavilions, traditional performances, interactive attractions, family activities and new experiences added throughout the season.
And, of course, there will be plenty of reasons to look up. Fireworks, drone shows and laser displays will return, including spectacular shows that have previously picked up Guinness World Records.
While there’s plenty of international flavour, Emirati culture remains at the heart of the festival.
Visitors can explore traditional arts, crafts and industries, alongside experiences showcasing the UAE’s heritage and way of life.
There will also be traditional sports including camel racing, falconry and maritime activities.
The idea is to give younger visitors a chance to get hands-on with Emirati heritage, while seeing how those traditions connect with modern-day life.
There’s also a full calendar of celebrations to look forward to throughout the season.
Expect festivities for Eid Al Etihad, New Year and Ramadan, alongside music and entertainment featuring artists from across the UAE and wider Gulf region.
International pavilions will bring different cultures, cuisines and experiences together, making the festival something of a whistle-stop tour around the world.
And yes, families are very much catered for. The festival will have dedicated spaces for entertainment, learning and interactive activities for children and adults alike.
So, whether you’re heading there for the fireworks, fancy a wander through the world pavilions, want to introduce the kids to some Emirati traditions or simply fancy a winter night out, Sheikh Zayed Festival is back from 30 October.
