Motorists be warned! Abu Dhabi has issued a red alert for fog and lowered visibility on these roads

Foggy morning in the capital? It’s not over yet! The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) on Monday sent out a red alert for fog, notifying residents of a deterioration in horizontal visibility, which may drop even further at times over some coastal and internal areas

Humid conditions are expected by night and will continue over Tuesday morning with a chance of fog or mist formation over some coastal and internal areas. Light to moderate winds are expected to blow in the country.

Abu Dhabi Police has called on motorists to drive safely and exercise caution owing to reduced visibility during the fog. Speed limits have also been altered on some roads which are displayed on electronic information boards.

Likewise, Dubai Police also took to X to urge drivers to drive safely because of low visibility due to fog across different parts of Dubai. While the fog seems to have cleared at the minute, it’s worthwhile to keep an eye on weather updates.

In a video posted by Storm Centre, thick fog is seen on Emirates Road heading towards Sharjah. Ras Al Khaimah Police also called on motorists to exercise caution when driving due to low visibility brought about by the fog.

While the met had forecast of foggy conditions in various parts of the country this morning, the weather today is expected to be fair in general and partly cloudy at times.

Stay safe!
