Will it rain in the UAE this week?

There will be hot days ahead with a chance of rainfall in all parts of the UAE

As the UAE pushes through the peak of summer, today could bring a brief break from the intense heat, with scattered light rainfall expected in some parts of the country.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), isolated showers may develop, offering momentary relief; a not-so-uncommon occurrence even during the height of summer.

This comes after heavy rain swept through Al Ain over the weekend, reminding residents that even the desert climate has its occasional surprises.

While some areas might see rain, don’t expect a full cooldown just yet. The extreme heat continues, though slightly dialed back from recent record highs.

Over the weekend, Sweihan in Al Ain recorded a blistering 51.8ºC; the highest temperature in the UAE so far this year.

Today, Abu Dhabi is expected to top out at around 45ºC, while Dubai will see highs close to 43ºC. Even with a minor drop in temperatures, conditions remain dangerously hot.

Light to moderate winds will blow across the country at speeds ranging between 10 and 25 km/h, occasionally intensifying to 40 km/h in more exposed desert areas. These gusts may stir up dust and reduce visibility at times.

As evening approaches, the weather is expected to feel even more oppressive, with coastal areas seeing humidity levels soar; possibly reaching up to 90 per cent.

This increase in moisture will likely make the already high temperatures feel even more uncomfortable, especially during the night.

While Monday may bring brief showers, the rest of the week looks to remain mostly dry with a mix of sunny and partly cloudy skies. Hazy conditions are expected to persist during the daytime, contributing to the overall discomfort.
