The three-day event brings together students from across the region to champion awareness and inclusion for cleft conditions
Abu Dhabi will host the inaugural Operation Smile MENA Student Conference from August 9–11, a powerful new initiative bringing together 50 youth leaders from across the region.
Representing countries including the UAE, Morocco, Jordan, Palestine, and Egypt, these students will gather with a shared mission: to champion the cause of children born with cleft conditions.
Aligned with the UAE’s #YearOfCommunity 2025, the three-day event is more than just a conference, it’s a platform for connection, education, and advocacy.
A regional first for a global cause
This marks the first-ever regional youth summit for Operation Smile in the MENA region. The event will feature workshops, leadership sessions, and storytelling experiences.

These will be aimed at deepening students’ understanding of cleft conditions and strengthening their ability to advocate within their own communities.
Participants will also collaborate across borders, sharing ideas and learning how to build inclusive, compassionate initiatives in their schools and countries.
Why it matters
Cleft lip and palate conditions affect thousands of children across the world. While Operation Smile provides life-changing surgeries and support, raising awareness and breaking stigma are just as crucial.
By equipping young leaders with tools and knowledge, this conference helps to amplify voices, spark action, and inspire empathy across the MENA region.
As the UAE celebrates community-driven impact in 2025, this conference stands as a clear example of youth being empowered not only to care, but to lead.
