A dynamic cultural space for art, architecture, and exciting installations
There are airports… and then there’s NOMAD Abu Dhabi 2026.
Set to take over Paul Andreu’s iconic Terminal 1 from 19–22 November 2026, NOMAD is back in Abu Dhabi, and it’s not just returning quietly.
After winning Best Industry Event at the Monocle Design Awards 2026, it’s arriving with a bigger footprint, a broader cultural programme, and that same unmistakable sense of “what if we turned this space into something extraordinary?”
If you’ve never been inside Terminal 1, picture this: curved architecture, cinematic lighting, and a space that already feels like it has stories baked into its walls.
Now imagine it filled with contemporary art, collectible design, experimental installations, and creative conversations happening in every corner. That’s NOMAD.
This year’s edition is shaping up to be its most ambitious yet. Expect new exhibition sectors, large-scale site-specific installations, and a programme that stretches beyond looking and admiring, into listening, discussing, questioning, and wandering a little off course on purpose.
Because NOMAD isn’t your typical “walk in, look around, leave” kind of experience. It’s more like drifting through a space where a sculpture might sit next to an architectural experiment, while a talk about heritage design happens just a few steps away.
You don’t really follow a route, you just explore and let it unfold.

The 2026 edition will also expand its cultural programme with performances, talks, and collaborations with institutions from across the creative world.
What makes it even more exciting is the unpredictability. One moment you’re looking at collectible design pieces, the next you’re inside a conversation about urban space, or standing in front of an installation that completely changes how you see the building around you.
And while full details of participating galleries, artists, and installations are still under wraps, that’s kind of the point. NOMAD likes to reveal itself slowly; like a space that doesn’t want to be rushed.
So, if you happen to find yourself wandering through Terminal 1 this November, don’t expect a typical exhibition.
Expect something a little looser, a little stranger, and a lot more fun, where the journey between ideas is just as interesting as the ideas themselves.
