We can’t wait to see where the beauty pageant goes from here
Times are changing, and while the beauty industry continues to play catch-up, there are some positive steps being taken.
The latest, and perhaps most historic of which comes now with the age removal of participants for Miss Universe.
Reigning Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel, Miss USA, has broken the news while attending the New York Fashion Week.
Starting in 2024, there will be no age limits for pageant contestants, which previously was capped between 18-28. The new rule will come into effect in the 72nd edition of the competition.

Ironically and perhaps fittingly, Gabriel was 28 at the time of winning last year, making her one of the oldest Miss Universe crown holders. During the question-and-answer round at the contest, held in New Orleans, she was asked what changes she would make to the organisation’s rules if given a chance.
Naturally, she spoke of upping the age limit, which has now led to this epic moment.
The upcoming 2023 Miss Universe pageant will be held in El Salvador on 18 November. This edition is going to make history as well, following the 2022 landmark rule that allowed married women and mothers to participate.
Furthermore, Miss Universe Nepal also recently crowned their first plus-size winner, marking a great moment.
We can’t wait to see where this goes!
