Motorists in Abu Dhabi will need to take note as new speed limits are now in effect on two major roads in the capital as part of a larger initiative to enhance road safety and reduce accidents.
The Abu Dhabi Mobility Centre has officially implemented lower speed limits on Sweihan Road (E20) and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed International Road (E11). Drivers are urged to adhere strictly to the updated regulations to ensure safer travel conditions across the emirate.

The speed limit on Sweihan Road (E20), which connects Abu Dhabi to Sweihan, has been reduced from 120 km/h to 100 km/h.

On Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed International Road (E11), a vital highway linking Abu Dhabi Industrial City with Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, the maximum speed has been lowered from 160 km/h to 140 km/h.
The revised limit on E11 was initially announced in April and officially came into effect on 14 April. Both speed limit adjustments are key components of Abu Dhabi’s broader strategy to improve traffic safety, especially on fast-moving routes witnessing increased vehicle volumes.
The authorities continue to stress the importance of compliance to reduce accident risks and ensure smoother, safer commutes for all road users.
