Two new solar-powered rest areas in Rabdan and Shakhbout City offer shade, AC and water
Delivery riders zooming through Rabdan and Shakhbout City in Abu Dhabi just got a sweet new perk, and no, it’s not an extra scoop of hummus with your shawarma.
Ma’an has launched two brand-new rest stops made just for delivery heroes. It’s all part of the ‘Summer Without Accidents’ campaign, but these aren’t your average roadside benches.

Think shaded hangout spots, air-conditioned seating (yes, really), ice-cold drinking water, and charging stations for your phone, all powered by the sun.
These chill zones aren’t just a nice gesture; they’re part of Abu Dhabi’s push for sustainability and safer streets.
So, next time you’re ordering bubble tea or a late-night burger, spare a thought for the rider recharging in comfort before heading your way.

The Integrated Transport Centre is steering this initiative, aiming to reduce fatigue-related accidents, boost morale, and make sure every rider has a place to rest, refresh, and scroll TikTok between deliveries (okay, maybe just check the GPS).
Not only do these cozy hubs support road safety, but they also encourage better compliance with traffic rules. Because let’s face it: a well-rested rider is a safer rider.

Seems like the UAE is leading the pack in delivery innovation, one rest stop at a time.
So here’s to safer roads, happier riders, and a summer that’s more chill than ever on Abu Dhabi roads.
