There were some concerns that the race may be cancelled due to the on-going conflict in Palestine

F1 authorities have had to release a statement this week confirming that the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will indeed be going ahead, dispelling rumours that it may be cancelled due to the on-going tensions in the Middle East.

The continuing troubles in Palestine had caused some concern for people who feared that the conflict could spill over into other Arab nations including the UAE, however a spokesperson for F1 insisted that the race was not in jeopardy.

The F1 weekend in Abu Dhabi is the flagship event of the year for sports fans in the region and Yas Island is once again set to host a carnival like atmosphere over the weekend of the 23-26 November.

With this in mind, residents and tourists making their way to Abu Dhabi for the event will be happy to know that despite the doubts which have been raised about the cancellation of the Grand Prix it will be going ahead.
