This brings the country one step closer to launching nationwide travel
A big step forward for travel in the UAE has just taken place, and it’s one that could seriously change how we get around.
The first passenger station on the Etihad Rail network has officially been completed in Fujairah, giving us a real glimpse of what train travel across the country will soon look like.
Set in the Al Hilal area of Fujairah, the new station is designed to feel modern, spacious, and easy to navigate.
During a recent visit by senior officials, including Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi and Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed, early previews showed everything from sleek interiors to simple ticketing systems already in place.
There was even a demo ticket for a future trip from Fujairah to Abu Dhabi, suggesting we’re getting closer and closer to the big opening.
Once passenger services kick off (expected later this year), you’ll be able to travel between Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Fujairah far more easily.

It will take roughly an hour between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and about 90 minutes to Fujairah. That’s a game-changer for everything from daily commutes to spontaneous weekend beach trips.
You will be able to finish work in Abu Dhabi and head to Fujairah for dinner by the sea, with no long drive required. Or skipping traffic altogether for a quick Dubai meeting.

Of course, this is just the beginning. The wider Etihad Rail network is a huge, long-term project designed to eventually connect all seven emirates, moving both people and goods more efficiently across the country. It will also connect the UAE to Oman with Hafeet Rail, expected to take you from Abu Dhabi to the neighbouring country in less than two hours.
So while it might just be one station for now, it’s a pretty big signal of what’s coming next; a faster, smoother, and far more connected way to travel around the UAE and the GCC.
