EID AL FITR 2025: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT UAE PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
Expected Dates for Eid Al Fitr 2025
Astronomers predict that Ramadan will begin on Saturday 1 March this year, following the crescent moon sighting. If Ramadan lasts 29 days, Eid Al Fitr is expected to start on Sunday 30 March 2025.
This could grant a four-day weekend from Sunday to Tuesday, combined with the usual weekend.
However, if Ramadan extends to 30 days, Eid celebrations would begin on Monday 31 March 2025, resulting in five days off – Monday to Wednesday, plus the preceding weekend.
While these dates are based on astronomical calculations, the official announcement will depend on the moon-sighting committee closer to the event.
UAE Public Holidays for Eid Al Fitr
The UAE cabinet has announced that public holidays for Eid Al Fitr will span from Ramadan 30 to Shawwal 3. Unlike some holidays that can be carried over if they fall on weekends, this resolution does not apply to Eid Al Fitr or Eid Al Adha.
What Is Eid Al Fitr?
Eid Al Fitr, meaning “feast of breaking the fast,” is a significant Islamic celebration marking the end of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.

Final thoughts
With Ramadan falling in the cooler winter months, there’s a higher chance of it lasting 30 days due to potential cloud cover during moon sightings.
