Eid Al-Fitr dates predicted by Emirates Astronomical Society

The Emirates Astronomical Society thinks the festival will likely fall on 21 April this year, with a four-day weekend on the cards

We have some scientific confirmations on the possible Eid date!

According to the Emirates Astronomical Society, the first day of Eid al Fitr 2023 is expected to fall on 21 April.

The Holy Month of Ramadan began on 23 March, and this religious holiday will mark the beginning of the Islamic month Shawwal and the first day after a month of fasting and prayer.

With 20 April expected to be a public holiday too, this would lead to an expected four-day weekend in the UAE until 23 April.

Of course, a confirmed date will only be announced in the country according to relevant moon sightings, but if you have staycay fever be sure to check out Team Yalla’s round-up of the best!

The next major event is Arafat Day, the second day of the week-long Hajj pilgrimage, expected to take place on 27 June this year.

This will be followed by Eid al Adha – which many think will fall from 28-30 June. In that case, there will be four consecutive public holidays at the end of June – from Tuesday 27 to Friday 30.

Only time (and the moon) will tell!
