From showing national pride to traffic rules and safety tips

The UAE is preparing to mark its 54th Eid Al Etihad, offering residents a long, festive weekend with four paid days off.

As families get ready for celebrations and the nation finalises its National Day activities, the Ministry of Interior (MOI) has issued guidelines to ensure everyone enjoys a safe and joyful holiday.

Authorities emphasise that celebrations should never compromise road safety or public order.

The do’s

Using official Eid Al Etihad stickers on vehicles: Add a festive touch to your car with authorised stickers that show your participation in the celebrations, without affecting safety or visibility.

Raising the UAE flag: Display the national flag at home or in approved areas to show pride in a respectful and meaningful way.

The don’ts

At the same time, the MOI has warned against actions that could endanger lives or disrupt traffic, including:

Participating in unauthorised parades or gatherings: Only approved events are allowed to maintain order and safety.

Obstructing traffic or blocking public roads: Keep streets clear to ensure smooth traffic flow and avoid accidents.

Stunt driving: Reckless driving, speeding, or performing dangerous manoeuvres puts everyone at risk.

Leaning or hanging out of windows or sunroofs: Such actions can be extremely dangerous and are strictly prohibited.

Overloading vehicles: Stick to the correct passenger and load limits to prevent accidents.

Covering windows or license plates: Keep your car fully visible and compliant with the law.

Making unauthorised modifications or creating excessive noise: Avoid illegal car modifications or loud sound systems that could disturb others.

Wearing scarves or raising flags not related to Eid Al Etihad: Only approved festive attire or flags should be displayed.

Using spray paint on vehicles: This is unsafe and not permitted during celebrations.

Playing loud music unrelated to the occasion: Keep the festive spirit with music that aligns with Eid Al Etihad celebrations.

The National Flag

Hoisting the UAE flag is one of the most respected ways to celebrate Eid Al Etihad, but it must be done properly.

The MOI has outlined 15 rules, including maintaining the correct colours and proportions, keeping the flag clean and in good condition, and ensuring it is never displayed in a disrespectful manner.

Authorities remind everyone that non-compliance can result in fines or impoundment of vehicles, making it essential to follow these rules.

By adhering to these guidelines, residents can enjoy a safe, joyful, and patriotic Eid Al Etihad.
