From skincare to style, here are some tips on getting ahead of the game and being vacay-ready before you jet off into the sunset
THREE WEEKS BEFORE
Not everyone wants to or has the time to do a 10-step skincare routine on vacation. To avoid keeping your companions waiting, treat yourself to a good facial well in advance and your skin will thank you later.
Exfoliation and hydration should be your mantra in the weeks leading up to your trip to ensure a good, clean base during travel. Incorporate a good moisturiser and serum or facial oil to help protect against environmental stressors. And of course, you can’t forget the sunscreen!
This is also the most opportune time to get a haircut and colour (if you so wish). Sunlight can excessively damage freshly coloured hair, so a last-minute scramble could just end up being a waste of money instead.
TWO WEEKS BEFORE
Next, take a look at your wardrobe. Depending on where you’re going, you may want to invest in some new pieces to keep you comfortable and stylish during your travels.
Look for versatile pieces that can be dressed up or down, and consider the climate and cultural norms of your destination. Light, flowy materials are always your best friend and a pop of colour can class anything up.
Another key aspect of vacation prep is packing smart. Skip the last-minute stress and take the time to list all the essentials. This is also a great way to plan out your outfits for the ‘gram and will definitely help you avoid overpacking.

ONE-TWO DAYS BEFORE
Finally, don’t neglect your hair and makeup. And by hair, we mean getting a wax done should you feel the need to. Summers mean swimwear, and if getting rid of body hair is your thing, trade in the razor burn and ingrown hair for a quick wax session instead.
This also leaves your body enough days to heal from the redness and ensure you’re picture-perfect! On the makeup front, depending on your destination, you may need to adjust your beauty routine to account for humidity, sun exposure, harsh cold temperatures, or any number of environmental factors.
If your itinerary has you spending a lot of time in the sun, opt for waterproof mascara and a lightweight, humidity-resistant foundation. And some leave-in conditioner to protect your locks from UV damage goes a long way.
Naturally, the last day is just about putting on a mask and getting in a good soak to shoo away those pre-travel jitters. And shortlisting some reels and poses to record on vacay, of course!
