This comprehensive pollution mapping project aims tackle noise levels in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi may be considered a quieter city than its counterpart Dubai, but there is still an amazing range of things to do throughout the capital.
However, the capital is expected to get a whole lot quieter (literally) in the coming months due to a new project by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD).
This comprehensive noise pollution mapping project aims to identify the emirate’s noisiest areas and the primary sources of noise.
This initiative follows Abu Dhabi’s recent Dark Sky Policy, which addresses light pollution and promotes responsible lighting practices. These efforts reinforce Abu Dhabi’s status as the most livable city in the MENA region.

The EAD’s initiative will create a detailed map to highlight the most affected residential zones. Using this data, the agency plans to collaborate with over ten government entities to develop both temporary and permanent solutions to reduce noise pollution.
This effort will help city planners make informed decisions about land use and zoning regulations, protecting sensitive areas like residential zones and schools from high noise sources.
Faisal Al Hammadi, executive director of the Environmental Quality Sector at EAD, emphasized their commitment: “Our goal at the EAD is always to ensure that we are creating the best environment for all Abu Dhabi residents.”
