But… passengers can rebook on partner airlines Etihad Airways or Qatar Airways
British Airways has stunned travellers by announcing the suspension of its direct flights between London Heathrow and Abu Dhabi from 31 March to 25 October, 2025.
This sudden move has left countless passengers scrambling to adjust their plans, with many now forced to find alternatives like departing from Gatwick or taking stopovers in Dubai or Doha.
The disruption is linked to a shortage of engines for the airline’s Boeing 787 fleet, which handles long-haul flights, including the Heathrow-Abu Dhabi route.

Rolls-Royce, the engine supplier, has faced significant supply chain delays, forcing British Airways to operate with a reduced fleet.
Although passengers can rebook on partner airlines Etihad Airways or Qatar Airways, the suspension has caused massive frustration.
With 2025 travel plans potentially in chaos, this unprecedented move will no doubt throw summer vacations into disarray for the months outlined.
