Opening today, the free exhibition will run until 26 November at The Project Space
Time for another dip into the world of art at The Project Space!
The NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) Art Gallery’s auxiliary venue is all set to open a solo exhibition by the brilliant Janet Bellotto. Titled Salted Edges: #islandparadise, the exhibition opens today and will run until 26 November.
Free and open to the public, the Project Space will feature artworks by artist and educator Janet Bellotto inspired by the unique world of island navigation. By looking at the dynamic relationship between the land and the sea in Salted Edges: #islandparadise, Bellotto explores the concept of liminal space, where islands, whether in oceans, seas, or other bodies of water, mark the threshold between two terrains.
For this project, Bellotto has chosen to focus on the islands of Sir Bani Yas in Abu Dhabi and Sable Island in Canada, presenting photographs, videos, sculptures, and found objects within the context of climate change, adaptation, survival, and deluge.
Inviting visitors to introspect climate change, the exhibition serves to help them question and understand the current climate crisis and the vulnerabilities that surround us. It’s definitely apt given the upcoming COP28.
