This new app makes it easy to discover fun activities to do at Abu Dhabi’s beaches

Al Nalia is an interactive app that helps you find waterways, routes, and marine destinations in the UAE capital

In the mood for some fun at the beach but don’t know where to go?

A new smartphone app called Al Nalia has made it so much easier to find new things to do at Abu Dhabi’s most popular beaches or even discover hidden gems along the emirate’s stunning coastline.

With the new app, residents and visitors are just a tap away from finding the nearest recreational beach activities, including jet skis, marine water sports, swimming, and surfing. The app also identifies marine facilities in Abu Dhabi, including marinas, slipways, and marine fuel stations.

Named after the UAE’s historical maps used for navigating local waterways and marking information about the harbour and pearl diving sites, Al Nalia was primarily designed to enhance the safety of marine navigation and to make it easier to use the emirate’s waterways by providing access to maritime safety maps for Abu Dhabi.

But with its direct access to global navigation systems such as Google Maps, the interactive app also serves as a convenient tool to identify the best waterways, routes, and marine destinations in the emirate.

Al Nalia’s powerful features make it one of the region’s most advanced maritime navigational services, and residents and visitors alike all have access to it by simply downloading the app on their smartphones.

The app is available on the App Store and Google Play.

Al Nalia, developed by the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Maritime and Maqta Gateway, both part of the AD Ports Group, is a follow-up to the Maritime Safety Maps that was earlier launched in Abu Dhabi. The Maritime Safety Maps are available on Abu Dhabi Maritime’s digital portal.

Both apps provide real-time maritime navigational information, including major commercial transit lanes and connectivity routes, speed limits, mooring and anchorage areas, and designated locations for motorised and non-motorised recreational maritime activities.

The interactive maps can also display users’ location in real-time and provide information on any regulations within their current zone.
