Get four black points removed from your licence as part of the UAE’s annual road safety initiative

Accident Free Day is back in the UAE, and if you’ve registered in time and followed the rules, you’re in line to have four black points removed from your driving licence.

Here’s everything you need to know about this road safety initiative and how to make the most of it.

What is Accident Free Day?

Held annually to promote safe driving across the UAE, Accident Free Day encourages motorists to follow traffic rules and drive responsibly, particularly as the school year begins.

Launched as a national campaign, the initiative allows registered participants to have four black points deducted from their licence, provided they follow a basic safety pledge on the day.

When is it?

Accident Free Day 2025 falls on Monday, 25 August, the first day of the academic year in the UAE.

Important: Only those who signed the pledge before the day are eligible for the black point deduction.

What’s the pledge?

To take part, drivers must commit to a simple set of rules that promote road safety. Here’s what you pledge to do:

Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front

Yield to pedestrians at crossings

Always wear a seatbelt

Stick to speed limits

Avoid using handheld mobile phones while driving

Give way to emergency services and official convoys

Follow these rules on 25 August, and you’ll earn yourself four points off your licence, but only if you already have points

If your licence is clean, you won’t go into negative points.

When will points be deducted?

If you’ve registered and complied with the pledge on Accident Free Day, your four black points will be automatically deducted from your licence on Monday, 15 September.

There’s no need to visit a service centre, the process is entirely electronic.

Why it matters

With the school year starting and roads getting busier, Accident Free Day is a timely reminder to prioritise safety, for yourself and others on the road.

Plus, it’s a practical way to reduce your driving penalties while making the roads safer for everyone.
