Revised speed limits are now live across several key routes in the capital
If you regularly fly along Abu Dhabi’s faster highways, it’s time to ease off the accelerator.
From 9 February, speed limits have been reduced on several major roads across the emirate as part of a wider push to improve road safety and smooth traffic flow.
The changes have been approved by the Joint Traffic Safety Committee in coordination with Abu Dhabi Mobility, and they mainly affect some of the city’s busiest routes.
On the Abu Dhabi–Al Ain Road (E22), the maximum speed has dropped from 160km/h to 140km/h in both directions between Al Nahda Interchange and Bani Yas Interchange.

From Bani Yas Interchange to the Bridge Complex, the limit has also been lowered, going from 140km/h to 120km/h.
Drivers using Al Rawdah Road (E30) have seen speeds reduced from 120km/h to 100km/h in both directions.
Authorities say the move is all about safer driving, better traffic regulation and fewer serious accidents, especially on high-speed roads used daily by thousands of motorists.
