Abu Dhabi’s new parking system is a game-changer – just park and go!
Abu Dhabi is officially taking the stress out of city parking. The capital’s public parking operator, Q Mobility, just launched an AI-powered Mawaqif upgrade; and it’s set to revolutionise how we park.
Now in pilot zones, the system uses smart vehicles and AI cameras to track available spaces, monitor occupancy in real time, and charge you automatically; no more fumbling with tickets or payment machines.

How does it work?
When you drive into a parking area, AI cameras instantly recognise your vehicle, log your entry time, and start the clock. Once you exit, the system calculates your total time and auto-deducts the fee via linked payment channels like the Darb Wallet.
Why it’s awesome:
No tickets or manual payments
Super fast entry and exit
100 per cent contactless and hassle-free
Perfect for busy areas and peak hours
Cuts out human error in timing or charges
Inspectors are also cruising around in AI-equipped smart cars that help manage parking across selected sectors, with a full citywide rollout on the horizon.
This is just the start of Abu Dhabi’s smart mobility future; and it’s already making parking feel like less of a chore.
