There will be no increase in renewal for homes, shops, offices, and industrial units
If you’ve been holding your breath every time your tenancy renewal comes up, this announcement is likely to feel like a weight off your shoulders.
In practical terms, all tenancy contract renewals across residential, commercial, and industrial properties will now be processed with a 0% increase.
However, two key areas, Al Reem Island and Al Maryah Island, are not included in the measure.
Your landlord cannot raise your rent when your lease is renewed. On top of that, if a new tenant is taking over a property that was previously rented, the rent must stay at the same value as the last contract, with no increase just because there’s a new agreement.
Put simply, whether you’re renting an apartment, running a small business, or operating a warehouse or industrial facility, your rent is staying exactly where it is for now.
This is a notable intervention because it applies across most of the property market.
