Here’s everything motorists need to know for getting around Abu Dhabi during Ramadan
Ramadan in Abu Dhabi is about to start, and that means a few changes to your daily drive and parking routine.
As the Holy Month approaches, Q Mobility has confirmed updated timings for both Darb toll gates and Mawaqif paid parking across the capital.
With Ramadan expected to begin on Thursday, 19 February (subject to moon sighting), residents can look forward to slightly adjusted schedules that reflect the rhythm of the season.
For motorists using the Darb toll system, charges will apply Monday to Saturday in two separate windows. The first toll period will run from 8am to 10am (changing from 7am to 9am), followed by a second stretch from 2pm to 6pm (changing from 3pm to 7pm).
Outside of those hours, drivers can pass through toll gates free of charge. And as usual, Sundays remain toll-free all day, perfect for relaxed family visits and iftar gatherings across the city.

Parking under the Mawaqif system will also operate on split shifts during Ramadan. Paid parking will apply Monday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm, then resume again from 9pm until 2am.
That leaves a convenient three-hour break between 6pm and 9pm, giving residents time to prepare for or head out to Iftar without worrying about parking fees. Sundays, once again, are completely free.
The exact start of Ramadan will be confirmed following the official moon sighting, but astronomers predict the crescent will likely mark the beginning of the Holy Month on Thursday.
With adjusted working hours for public and private sectors also in place, Abu Dhabi’s pace naturally softens during Ramadan, making it a time for reflection, family, community, and a slightly smoother commute.
