Ignore the school bus ‘Stop’ sign, and it’ll cost you—AED 1,000 fine and six black points
There are no excuses. Abu Dhabi Police are reinforcing a critical traffic law, and drivers who fail to stop for a school bus with its ‘Stop’ sign extended will face an AED 1,000 fine and six black points.
The rule is simple: when the sign is out, you stop – immediately. No creeping forward, no last-minute swerves.
Maintain at least a five-metre distance to ensure children can safely get on and off the bus.

A few seconds of impatience could lead to devastating consequences.
With school zones already bustling, reckless driving near buses puts young lives at risk. The message is firm—obey the rule or pay the price.
When you see that ‘Stop’ sign next time, hit the brakes. The fine is steep, but the cost of negligence is far worse.
