Police roll out safety, awareness, and traffic plans for the new school year
As schools across the capital prepare to welcome students back to class, Abu Dhabi Police are stepping up with a full-on safety strategy to make sure the 2025–2026 academic year kicks off on a secure and positive note.
Working closely with key partners, the police have put together a detailed plan to keep roads safe, protect students, and promote awareness in schools. It’s all part of their wider mission to build a safer community for everyone.
School safety starts with awareness
One major focus this year is education, not just in the classroom, but about safety and smart choices.
The Criminal Security Sector is launching a campaign to raise awareness among students, teachers, and parents on key issues like:
The dangers of drug use
Cyberbullying and online abuse
Electronic blackmail
How to be a responsible, ethical citizen
These sessions are designed to keep young people informed and empowered, while building a culture of trust, respect, and safety.
Making roads safer for students
With more traffic expected near schools, the Central Operations Sector is taking extra steps to keep the roads safe. Here’s what they’ve got planned:
Traffic awareness sessions for drivers, parents, and school bus staff
More patrols at intersections and busy areas
Close monitoring of crosswalks to protect students walking to and from school
Drivers are also being reminded to stop fully when school buses display their “Stop” signs, and to always drive with extra care in school zones.

Spreading the word
To make sure these messages reach everyone, the Security Media Department has kicked off a multilingual media campaign across TV, radio, and social media.
Through short videos and posts, they’re sharing helpful tips like:
How to protect kids from online threats
The importance of slowing down near schools
How drivers can support school safety efforts
The campaign encourages the entire community to work together—because when everyone’s aware, everyone’s safer.
With all these measures in place, Abu Dhabi Police are sending a clear message: the safety of students, staff, and families is a top priority.
From traffic control to crime prevention, they’re committed to creating a secure and welcoming school environment for the year ahead.
