Authorities urge motorists to avoid random parking, especially truck and bus drivers stopping to pray, citing major safety concerns
Abu Dhabi Police has issued a strict warning to motorists, particularly truck and bus drivers, about the dangers of random roadside parking.
The practice poses a serious risk to public safety, disrupts traffic flow, and increases the likelihood of accidents, especially during peak hours.
Why this matters
While observing religious practices is important, stopping on busy roads or highways to pray creates significant safety hazards.

Authorities have urged heavy vehicle owners, truck drivers, and business operators to ensure that drivers use designated parking areas, mosques, or prayer houses instead of stopping on the roadside.
Penalties for illegal parking
Failing to comply with parking laws can result in hefty fines. Abu Dhabi Police highlights the following violations:
- Article 62 of the Federal Traffic Law: Parking at intersections and detours – AED 500 fine.
- Article 70 of the Federal Traffic Law: Failing to comply with traffic signs and instructions – AED 500 fine.
How to stay safe and avoid fines
Motorists are strongly advised to plan their stops in advance and only park in designated areas.
Abu Dhabi’s roads are increasingly busy, and ensuring safe parking not only prevents accidents but also keeps traffic flowing smoothly for all road users.
